Bi-annually in January, Whangamomona holds a Republic Day where the president of the Republic is voted in, and people travel from all over to attend the festivities. Past presidents include Billy Gumboot the Goat, he won election by eating the other challengers ballots. Tai the Poodle, who retired from mental anguish following an assassination attempt. Murt "Murtle the Turtle" is the local garage owner who fought off strong competition from Czech the foreigner only to come out on top once again!
